New to AAC? Start here.

AAC stands for augmentative and alternative communication. In plain terms, it is a way to say what you mean using pictures and words on a screen instead of, or alongside, speech. Your child taps a few symbols, Sayella speaks the message aloud, and the people around them understand. That is the whole idea: a reliable voice, ready whenever it is needed.

It is not instead of speech

AAC sits alongside any speech your child has. Research shows it can support spoken language, not hold it back.

It is for right now

A child does not need to be "ready". Early access to a robust vocabulary is what helps communication grow.

You learn it together

You model words on the board the way you would speak them. Sayella is built so you can do that from day one.

One price. Speech included. No add-ons, ever.

Honest numbers, on the homepage, where they belong. A one-off lifetime path is always available, so no family is ever locked out.

AI symbols

A symbol for any word, even your dog’s name.

When a word is not in the symbol set, you can generate a house-style symbol from a word or a photo, in the same warm look: a favourite snack, a local place, the family pet by name. No more gaps in the vocabulary, and no clip-art clash. Everyone gets two free to try, and premium plans make it unlimited.

Core vocabulary

One calm, complete board, sized to suit your child.

Sayella is built on a research-based core of the few hundred words that make up most of everyday speech. You choose a board size that suits your child, from a small board up to a dense one, and the full set of core words for that size is always there, with nothing hidden or greyed out. Buttons stay where they are as you use the board, and you can choose a bigger board whenever your child is ready.

Personalisation

Your voices, your themes, your grid.

Choose from natural UK voices, with premium UK voices coming soon, set the theme from young child to teen to adult, and pick the grid size that fits. Sayella never feels babyish unless you want it to, and the look grows up with the person using it.

Access for everyone

Touch and VoiceOver built in, switch scanning on the way.

Access is designed in from the start, not bolted on. Use touch, with VoiceOver and TalkBack fully supported and colour never the only signal. Switch scanning, with linear, row-column and group methods, adjustable timing and a high-contrast highlight, is on our roadmap, and auditory scanning will follow.

Data portability

Your words are yours, coming or going.

Coming from Proloquo or TD Snap? Import your boards with Open Board Format. Leaving one day? Export anytime, in the same open standard. The hours you pour into a vocabulary are never trapped inside one app.

Accessibility, in writing

Built for every way a person can reach a button.

We publish a full accessibility statement, because a child’s right to communicate should not depend on the fine print. Buttons are colour-coded by part of speech with the Modified Fitzgerald key, and colour is never the only signal: every button always pairs a symbol with its printed word.

Honest from day one.

We are early, and we would rather tell you the truth than invent a crowd. Here is where we stand, and how to help shape what comes next.

Why we are building Sayella

A voice should not depend on which device a family can afford, or on keeping a subscription alive. We are building affordable, cross-platform AAC for nonverbal children and adults in the UK, with a one-off path that never locks anyone out.

Grounded in the evidence

Research on AAC points to a small core vocabulary doing most of the work: a few hundred words account for roughly 80 percent of everyday speech. Early access to a robust system matters. We build to that evidence and cite our sources, rather than to a sales pitch.

No badges we have not earned

We are early, and we will not borrow authority we do not have. No fabricated reviews, no logos we are not entitled to, no claims we cannot back up. As real families use Sayella, we will show what they say here, with their consent.

Early access is open. Leave your email and we will invite you in, and ask what would make Sayella work for your family.

Family stories, coming soon

As real families start using Sayella, their words will live here, in their own voice and with their consent. We will never invent a quote to fill this space.

Your words are yours.
